Facts

• Canada has a 85.7% vaccination rate (link)
• Vaccinated and unvaccinated people can catch Covid-19
• Vaccinated and unvaccinated people can spread Covid-19 (link)
• Vaccine effectiveness lasts ~4 months. So if you were vaccinated more than 4 months ago you are essentially unvaccinated (link)
• Canada is the only country in the world that:
  • Does not allow unvaccinated to board a plane or a train to travel within Canada
  • Does not allow unvaccinated to board a plane or a train to leave Canada
• These laws have been in place since: October 30, 2021: 7 MONTHS!
• Many jobs - even remote friendly jobs - are requiring people to be vaccinated
• Unvaccinated health care workers are losing their jobs despite there being a MASSIVE shortage of health care workers. (link)
  • 1 in 10 are not vaccinated
• Not only that, but we have created a huge stigmatization of the unvaccinated with some restaurants opening “vaccinated” only areas.
• The least vaccinated portions of the Canadian population are our marginalized communities - Indigenous, Black and Latina communities (link, link, more below).
  • Many are not vaccinated because of a reasonable deep distrust in the government caused from generations of mistreatment of their communities
  • a 20% difference between vaccinated non minorities and black Canadians
  • Overall, 33% of the total adult Black population show some form of vaccine hesitancy.
    • Compared to 19% for whites
  • 28% of Young black New Yorkers are vaccinated (link)

    • 5-22% less depending on the state
• This is because of many reasons, but a big one being a deep distrust of the government in these communities because the government has treated them poorly for generations
  • remember the school burials of the Indigenous
  • they used to test vaccines on Indigenous kids (link, link, link, link, link)
    • Canada was even sued over years of alleged experimentation on Indigenous people (link)
• Minorities and marginalized communities are inadvertently affected by this (link, link)
• Vaccine mandates are called out as an example of systemic racism (link, link, link)
• Even the UN Rights Chief has said ‘under no circumstances is forced vaccination ok” (link)
• Even Justin Trudeau has said “there are many reasons someone may not want to get a vaccine” and that we should not impose vaccine mandates
  • So what changed?
• There are ~4 million unvaccinated Canadians (link)
• There are studies suggesting vaccine mandates don’t even increase vaccination rates (link, link)
